FREE Sacramento Museum DAY!  -  26 greater Sacramento area museums will be offering free admission, all day long, during the Twelfth Annual Sacramento Museum Day. This event is presented by the Sacramento Association of Museums (SAM), and proudly supported by Umpqua Bank. Valentines for the Troops - Liberty Tax Service in Rocklin will be hosting their 2nd annual Roadside Party.  Come enjoy a family-fun-filled day of making Valentines for our Troops.  Stations will be set up for families to make, or drop off, Valentines for our Soldiers.  Free lunch will be provided for all, as well as bounce houses, music, and face painting.  Have your picture taken with Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam.  Drop off a Valentine for a soldier to enter a raffle and win free tax preparation this year! Writing Love Letters - A workshop for sweethearts – A recent survey found that 77% of women prefer a love letter over romantic text or email (1 in 5 have never received one). Here’s the perfect opportunity to learn to convey those warm fuzzy feelings in love letters that will seal the deal with your favorite sweetheart.  A Valentine prep workshop on love letter writing will be offered two times at two locations. Birding with Kids: The Great Backyard Bird Count -  This annual four-day event that engages bird watchers of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of where the birds are across the continent. Storybook Art and Fingerplay - Each class opens with gentle songs and fingerplay to capture the meaning of the songs. 10:30 am – 11 am. Ages 2 & Up. World Dance and Storytelling - Travel the globe with Sonja as she shares stories and folk dances from around the world. In between, music from each land is played and a simple folk dance taught and danced in a joyful circle. 11:30 am – 12 pm. All ages.

Exploring Art with the Great Artists at Art Beast. Each week, an artist is featured. Children learn about the mediums and approaches the artists used, and then explore the methods themselves. 2 – 2:45 pm. Ages 4 & Up. Free for members or with admission to Art Beast. Born to Ride: Motorbikes Past and Present (Now through 3/12) Feel the adrenaline rush as you experience the evolution of the motorbike! Meadows and Mountains: The Art of William F. Jackson (Now through 5/9) Sacramento 's leading painter from 1880 to 1936 and the first director of the Crocker Art Museum , a position he held for 50 years. American Masterpieces: The Artistic Legacy of California Indian Basketry (now through 3/1/2010) This exhibit, displays over 80 California Indian baskets from the vast collection held by California State Parks. It features the evolution of Native American basketry in California, a functional artistic tradition 5,000 years in the making. Rooted in a way of life that relied on baskets for survival, native California baskets were strong, durable, versatile, lightweight, and often watertight.
